THE
REAL DEAL - STRAIGHT FROM BIM features established and new artists that are
having a strong impact impact on the Barbadian and Caribbean music scene. Dwain
Antrobus, the owner of Bassink Productions, produced twelve of its fourteen
tacks and created two new rhythms - THE REAL DEAL and BARBERSHOP
riddims.
John King and Tony "Rebel" Bailey, who have several hits to their credit and
have performed in several countries in the Caribbeans, U.S.A., Europe, Canada
and South America in the last two decades, are on The Real Deal riddim as
well as new artists Sanctuary and Seth Billy. King's song "Don't Stop", Bailey's
"So High", Seth Billy's "The Deal" and Sanctuary's "Thug Passion" had been
getting a fair amount of rotation on radio during the crop over season, but in
the last few weeks of the season Patrice Roberts' "Wukking Up" has been burning
up the airwaves and fetes. So much so that it is still in heavy rotation at the
parties, fetes and on air. The well known Roberts and Machel Montano, both of
Xtatik band and currently Machel Montano HD, are on the Barbershop riddim
with "Wukking Up" and "Wining Season" respectively.
You will quickly discover upon listening to THE REAL DEAL that this
compilation album features some of the very best Caribbean Talent. For instance,
Sandy (Bad Like That) had the hit ragga soca tune "Take Yuh Time" produced by
Chris Allman of Slam City Studios in 2003, and was one of the lead vocalists
with Adrian Clarke of the band X-tacy. Star Perez released a full length CD on
the CRS label in 2003 and has been a lead vocalist with Double Explosion.
Sanctuary has been a semi-finalist in the 2005 NIFCA song competition and a
finalist in the 2006 Digicel Rising Stars Competition and is currently working
ont he technical aspects of sound recording at Bassink Studio. Mad Guerilla,
also known as Kadaffi, is a disc-jockey for over 15years, while Villain and P-Oui
have done several songs for Crop-Over during the last five years. Jason Paul is
a guitarist and has been doing background vocals in studios in St. Vincent and
Barbados for the last three years.
Dwain Antrobus, the producer of THE REAL DEAL - STRAIGHT FROM BIM, is
an outstanding keyboardist in his own right and is currently touring with Machel
Montano and his band. Not only did he play on the tracks, but he mixed and
mastered most of them, as well as co-wrote six of the fourteen songs! Known for
his magical fingers on the recording board, Dwain intends to make Caribbean
music soar with fresh pulsating rhythms, well-composed songs and high quality
production.
