These words only begin to describe who I am."
Born in Barbados on November 1st 1977, Roderick Hurley became involved in music
and performing on stage from a young age. Starting out singing and reciting
poems in church and school, he placed third in the Barbados Junior Calypso
Competition in 1988 and went on to perform at concerts in Barbados, Guyana, St.
Lucia and St. Vincent, opening for artists such as Sizzla,
Gregory Issacs, Norris Man, Luciano,
Anthony B, Daville, Taurus Riley,
2face Idibia of Nigeria and others.
He has graduated from the Youth Achieving Results program sponsored by the
Barbados Government where he learnt to play the guitar and gained passes with
distinction in music theory up to grade 4.
Roderick Hurley is involved in the music industry on many levels. For the past
two years he has been a Director at Barbados' Copyright Society for Composers
Authors and Publishers, COSCAP and continues to make an invaluable contribution
to the development of the music industry in Barbados.
Hotta Flames opened Bigg Rock Studio in 2000 and has since produced and written
songs for himself and as well as a number of local and regional artists. He
plays music at a number of clubs on the island and continues to write and sing
amazing songs.
His passion for music is driven by his message.
Upliftment, education, love for oneself, for others and for the earth, a spirit
of oneness. This is what I seek to contribute to our existence. LOOK OUT FOR
