MIAMI
– Hot new reggae artist, Shifta, recently hit the studio with platinum-selling
chart-topper, Flo Rida, to re-record Shifta’s hit single “Do It.” Known for his
hit songs “Elevator” featuring Timbaland and “In the Ayer” featuring will.i.am
of Black Eyed Peas, Flo Rida is an international hip-hop & pop superstar
conquering the Billboard Hot 100 Charts in early 2008 for 10 straight weeks with
his debut single, “Low” featuring T-Pain.
After hearing the original version of Shifta’s hit single “Do It,” which has
been enjoying consistent rotation on top Miami radio stations, Flo Rida, a Miami
native, knew that he wanted to collaborate on “Do It” with the talented young
Jamaican. Shifta & Flo Rida got together in Miami’s premiere studio, Circle
House, owned by legendary reggae group, Inner Circle. The meeting resulted in
Flo Rida laying down two verses on the new single, which Shifta is now gearing
up to release.
Footage of Shifta and Flo Rida in the recording studio will soon be available
via local Jamaican television stations and the Internet to whet the appetites of
thousands of fans anxiously awaiting the singles release.
“It was a crazy experience to get in the studio with Flo Rida because he’s great
at what he does,” says Shifta. “He’s a hit-maker and I definitely think that he
added his unique flavor to the song.”
Aside from this new collaboration, Shifta has also been working on his debut
album in Miami, attracting the attention of several major record labels in the
U.S. In addition, Shifta has kept busy by performing, including a well-received
performance during the 2008 Best of the Best Concert, the biggest reggae
concert/festival in North America.
Shifta also has plans to host a promotional mix C.D. alongside his new recording
partner, Flo Rida, to be released in the fall of 2008.
